Hailey W. had years of experience in culinary arts connecting with others. With a degree and past work experience, she knew that food service was something she was passionate about. She spent many years building her culinary arts skillset, teamwork skills, and management skills, enabling her to find much success in the food service industry.
While working various food service jobs, Hailey found that she had a deep passion for using food as a tool to uplift others. Before working with us at Skills, she was in a role outside of the food service industry, but knew she wanted to get back to where her passions lied.
While working with us, Hailey interviewed with SSP America and was hired as a Cook. Not only could she pursue her passion for cooking, but she could also be in an airport setting. This was perfect for her as her other passion is air travel. Hailey’s new role enables her to do something she loves while also studying for the next stage in her career. We were so excited to hear more about Hailey’s story and her experience working with our team.
What brought you to Skills?
I was working a job helping with first aid and emergency help. I was looking for more money and a job with benefits. I have a degree in culinary arts and wanted to use that as well. I used to work for the Bears as a cook, so providing acts of service and hospitality is a passion of mine. That’s why I applied to SSP. I found Skills on Indeed and applied for the position with SSP.
How was your experience working with the Skills staff?
So far, so good. Skills has been very helpful and reassuring throughout the process.
Bring me back to the moment when you were hired. How did it feel? Did you celebrate?
I did something with my friend and celebrated. It was a long time coming, and I’m happy to be a part of SSP. I’m looking forward to the opportunities this company will provide for me. I’m excited about being back in the airport setting. I’m excited to be a part of the team. I go to school now, and the lady who hired me was happy to hear that and how passionate I was talking about working on airplanes. She could tell I was serious about my goal, and I’m motivated.
What opportunities has this job provided for you?
I now have the chance to grow in the company and stand up and be a useful asset to it. I bring managerial experience and a lot of experience in making sure the orders are correct and doing it in a timely manner.
What are your career goals and how do you feel SSP is/will support them?
This job will help me pay for my tuition. I haven’t had employment since I’ve been in school (May 2023). Instead of asking my parents for money or working gigs, this job is helping me pay for school and I’ll have more time to focus on school rather than work.
